Spotify: The Place for Fans
Spotify has features that let fans go deeper on the music they love—from learning the lyrics, credits and lore, to discovering its story and seeing the artist live. But these features have always been marketed one at a time.
The ask of my team was to come up with one idea big enough to bring all these fandom features together. Our answer was already in how real fans behave.
Real fans know the lyrics before the chorus hits. They know who made the song, the lore behind it, and what it feels like to finally hear it live. That knowledge isn’t extra. It’s fandom.
So instead of manufacturing fandom, we revealed it. We made a campaign that feels less like product marketing and more like proof that Spotify is the best place to be a fan.
In partnership with 1stAveMachine, we created a film that follows MUNA’s “Dancing on the Wall” deeper and deeper into fandom—moving from the song itself into its credits, story, lyrics and live experience. Spotify’s product features are woven into a collage of archival footage, fan-made content, handwritten notes and concert imagery, making the work feel less like a product demo, and more like cultural proof that Spotify is the place to go all the way in on the music you love.
